4X is a genre of game wherein the player governs some kind of empire, and the four branches of the path to success are to 'eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate'.
It isn't often that we look at games that started out life on IBM's OS/2. I miss OS/2 very occasionally.
But Galactic Civilizations did exactly that.

Sometimes when you play a game, you feel echoes of its predecessors' spirit flowing through them.
Endless Space seems to channel the spirit of one of the games I grew up with, sounds great to me.
